Formed in 1987 with only three members, the Choir has grown and developed since then.
At times, membership has grown to 18-20, with a nucleus of adult members augmented by our student members, who necessarily move on when they leave school and go on to university or college and the working world.
Our first Musical Director was Barbara Lee who retired only in January 2011, after 23 years. We all wish her a happy, very well-earned retirement.
Our new Musical Director is Jim Baines, who has great experience as a bandmaster in the army and, more recently, in teaching.
The Choir rehearses on Monday evenings from 7.00-9.00pm alternately at Auchinleck Chapel Hall and Alloway Church Hall. We are always pleased to have new members, so anyone who has reached a standard of approximately Grade 4, even if it was some time ago, will be made most welcome.
